Have I mentioned my new Saturday routine? I kick Aaron and Apollo out of the house and CLEAN. Yes, I pretty much only clean once a week and that is probably gross. Aside from dishes, laundry and general toy picking up I don't have a moment where someone (Aaron) isn't asleep to vacuum. Have you ever noticed when you're doing really awesome in one area, you're suffering terribly in another? Right now I'm cooking and eating extremely well, but my house looks like that hoarders show on television. In fact, I'm not sure why I'm blogging when I could be cleaning.

My Valentine's day gift :)

Aaron keeps telling me to tell the world what he got me for Valentines day! He got me a diamond necklace. I was very very surprised and I felt very loved. We aren't the most romantic of couples, (I bought him a jacket for V-day ... ) although we love each other very much. We went out to eat at Red Lobster and both had lobster for the first time (heavenly!) the Friday before V-day while my mom watched our baby. I loved it. And him. And my necklace. And tax returns.

Shut up about diapers.

Is that what you're thinking? Because all I can think about is cloth diapers. Seriously I think it's more of a hobby than anything else. I just found the cheapest and cutest diapers in the world and I'm sort of going on a shopping spree ... for other people. I've decided to take a look at what I've actually spent with my diaper addiction...

24 sunbaby diapers with inserts - $108
2 bumgenius diapers with inserts - $35 (way too much)
2 alva baby diapers with inserts - $7
Night time disposables  $60

So about 210. And I probably definitely don't need that many. If I could bring myself to figure out a night time solution I would save more but I don't know if I want him to wake up because he's wet just to save a few dollars here and then.

I love it. Do I suggest doing it just if you want to save money? Yes. I've calculated it several times with the energy it costs, the costs of the diapers through the first year and it saves you about half the first year alone. The next year? Pure savings. The next baby? Even better. Yet I will want cuter ones than the ones I have now next time...

If you like the earth then I suggest cloth diapers too.

It's no worse than changing a disposable. It's less stinky, that's for sure. I can't stand changing a disposable in the morning. One poopy diaper a day isn't as bad as you might think. Maybe I need a different kind of diaper but when he's in a disposable I feel like he just reeks of pee minutes after I put in on him. I could NEVER do the flat diapers that people do (yes, people still use those) it seems really complicated and gross.

Anyway..... diapers on the brain.

pinteresting.

Don't you love when people post their pins on their blog? No? Meh, whatever. I need a to do list ;)

I would like to do these... this month... ish.Actually, I'm making the soup tonight. The sailboat mobile is for my friend Sarah's pirate themed nursery! How cute is that? And that growth chart is darling and just in time for Paul's first birthday :)

yikes.

Three things I have been failing at lately:

Taking videos of Apollo
Taking pictures of Apollo
Writing blogs

Two things I have been doing well lately:

Reading lots of books to my sweet baby
Cooking more frequently

These days aren't very exciting for the Herrmann family. We. Are. Busy. Aaron is both working and going to school full time. He sleeps part time.

Apollo is 21 pounds and 29 inches tall. I am 62 inches. He's almost half my height. He hates eating anything that involves a utensil. Seriously. He will only eat finger foods now and NO baby food what so ever. I sneak oatmeal into his nighttime bottle (even though I'm not supposed to) to make sure he gets his oatmeal in. I don't know how else to get him to eat it anymore aside from turning it into some kind of solid.... cereal bars?? I'm hopeful. He drinks four bottles a day. And by drink I mean guzzles. He's so cute. He crawls everywhere, cruises along furniture, turns pages in books, and sucks on his binky all. day. long. His favorite place? Walmart seasonal aisle. His favorite food? veggie/fruit baby puffs, bananas and bread. He loves his stuffed giraffe that we give him at night time, loves to drink out of grown ups cups, and he LOVES to pretend to drink out of soda cans.

I work and play with my sweet baby until he passes out at 9pm.
